The Holy Names of God and Why They Matter

Knowing God by His personal names is one of the greatest privileges for followers of Christ. The word God is found throughout the Bible, but the Lord reveals Himself more personally through the names with which He introduces Himself in Scripture. These names help us when we address Him in prayer. Just as we want to call people by the right term or name, so we want to address God with appropriate wisdom and reverence whenever we pray.

And he was preaching the word to them. 3 And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. 4 And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. 5 And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” 6 Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, 7 “Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 8 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you question these things in your hearts? 9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’? 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralytic— 11 “I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home.” 12 And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!” [1]   You do not want to miss this life CHANGING MESSAGES. Echando perlas ante los cerdos

Cuando comencé a considerar las palabras de nuestro Señor en nuestro texto, recordé Su santidad. Cuando consideramos a Cristo el Señor, nos vienen a la mente muchos atributos, pero Su santidad debe estar en la parte superior de la lista. Su misma esencia está compuesta de santidad. Todo lo que Él es, todo lo que ha hecho, continúa haciendo y realizará en el futuro es consistente con Su santidad. Si uno mira a Cristo aparte de Su santidad, se ha perdido la esencia de quién es Él. Cristo no puede ser separado de Su santidad. Hemos leído un pasaje controversial para muchos en nuestros días. Tendrá que admitir que las palabras de nuestro Señor aquí no son "políticamente correctas". De hecho, están en claro contraste con las enseñanzas de muchos hoy. Al considerar lo que nuestro Señor ha dicho, debemos tener en mente Su santidad. La santidad de Cristo exige un estándar justo del que este mundo sabe muy poco. Vivimos en una época en la que todo vale, y esa actitud incluso ha llegado a la iglesia. Si vamos a vivir como Cristo quiere que vivamos, debemos ser conscientes de Su santidad y promover Su justo estándar en todos los aspectos de la vida.
